Description
Small dark brown plants usually less
than 20 cm long. Tissues are differentiated into holdfast, stipes, fronds,
fruiting bodies. Usually has a hard texture. Tend to form hard, fleshy,
roughly conical masses of tissue at the apices of fronds. |
Habitat
Attaches to coral, rocks and shells
in shallow tropical reef flats in moderately exposed and sheltered areas.
Often near Sargassum beds or mixed with genera such as Sargassum
and Padina. |
