Description
Morphology is variable between and
within species. Generally dark red in colour with several flat, flexible
fronds emanating from a small holdfast. Resembles some forms of
Gigartina,
Iridaea &
Grateloupia. Dark red
fruiting bodies appear as spots and bumps on thallus when in a reproductive
state. |
Habitat
Generally attaches subtidally to
coral, stones or shells on sheltered coral reef flats. |
